8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),
Ephesians 5:8-9
I am in the middle of studying the book of Ephesians and I am witnessing some of the profound truths that are revealed throughout chapter 5. The main premise of the chapter 5 is to openly and honestly tell us how we as Christians should walk and live.
5 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2
It is so important that we represent that light and love through our lives. We must also recognize others who may lead us of course while they excuse and defend behaviors that are Not of God! These would be unloving, dishonest, selfish and greedy behaviors. We know that if we are abiding in Jesus (John 15:5) and walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16), we will reveal the fruits of that Spirit, which are found in Galatians 5:22-23; ” 2 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
As we walk by the Spirit we will be called to walk in Love, speak truth in Love and reveal Christ as we live it out. We are called to lead others to Christ, Yes, this is true, but we must be wise and discern where and how we move and lead, because there are some people who may be rooted in evil with wrong intentions and their actions may be opposed to true Christianity!
“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16
My advice would be, know who Jesus is , who He says you are in Him and live by the truth of his word and in everything walk in the Light as children of the Light (Ephesians 5:8).
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
