Gospel Shoes

The Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 1and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Ephesians 6:10-18

If you are a runner than you know that wearing proper shoes are necessary to reach your destination. I have had many injuries from improper footwear and because of that,  I have learned to be more selective with my foot wear and chose wisely. The right shoe provides comfort, support and protection. Life in many ways is like running a race, but do we always know where were headed and what to wear for protection? In Ephesians 6:8-10, we see a clear outline on what we need to be wearing in order for our support, comfort and protection. This is how God leads us as we run through unknown places with hidden obstacles. This journey is not guaranteed to be the easiest, in fact Jesus tells us that we will encounter trouble, but in Him we will have peace ( John 16:33 ). This is the peace that Jesus mentions again in John 14:27 when He says,  ” 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  As a believer in Christ we know where to go for the source of comfort when our footing gets stuck or lost. We also know where to find truth that roots us down and allows us to whether difficulties that come our way. Jesus, is our source of truth and life and our constant  support, comfort and protection. This is the gospel! When you set out to run, living the life He gave, be prepared in His truth and allow the peace that is Him to lead you and keep you strong. Live it out and run the race comfortably secure in the Gospel of Jesus Christ ( Hebrews 12:1 )!
