In the Stillness

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;  I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”    –  Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

It takes a lot of faith to successfully navigate through life. There are times when we must demonstrate our faith by speaking up or fearfully stepping out into the great unknown. We know from scripture that God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of power ( 2 Timothy 1:7). This power is through His Spirit and is recognized by our faith. It is through this faith that we come to believe, we can do all things in the name of Jesus (Philippians 4:13). All things are possible with God (Mark 10:27)! This is living by faith, not by sight ( 2 Corinthians 5:7). When God calls us to move, we are able to face our fears through faith and trust in God.

But what do we do in the times when God is asking us to step back, sit down, be quiet or simply be still? Is it the same faith that allows us to charge forward in the face of fear that also allows us to let go and completely trust God? The answer is “YES! The truth is when God asks us to be still it may feel like nothing, but in the Kingdom of God it’s everything!

I know this might sound counter-intuitive, but the fears associated to what’s in front of us are nothing compared to what lies within us. It is in our stillness during these quiet moments that we become aware of God’s active presence. This is where God makes himself known and positions our heart for transformation. God is working within us for His plan and His purpose!

We should not run from these times, we should embrace them with the same faith. Take time to Be Still and Know God in greater ways, and allow His presence to impart a wisdom that guides your feet through greater steps of faith.
