Vitality in the New Year

7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
Philippians 3:7-9 ESV

As we look forward to the New Year, we can expect to re-evaluate certain areas of our lives
where we hope to make the necessary improvements for the year to come. This is often the fuel
that leads us to our yearly proclamation otherwise known as our “New Year’s Resolution”. Over
my lifetime, I’ve made many resolutions in the typical areas such as finance, career and
relationships. Planning where we need to focus and drive change is a great way to grow in the
areas of our lives where we need it most. This leads to Vitality, which is defined as energy or the
state of being strong and active. Most of us desire a well balanced life that is full of positive
energy. I know I do!
So what if this year we make a BOLD resolution! A resolution focused on our faith and tapping
into the eternal life that’s already within us! The kind of Faith that only grows when properly
nurtured. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of
things not seen”. As believers in Jesus, we are given, a whole new life through the grace of God.
This life is ours to live to the fullest, now, and for eternity (John 14:3). We live through Christ,
and it is through our faith that we gain this vibrant life. This is what Paul was talking about in
opening scripture. To know Christ so well, that He becomes the most important thing in our life
where no other resolutions matter.
My wish for you this upcoming year is that you avoid the typical “New Year’s Resolutions” and
consider stepping out boldly in your faith by committing to grow closer to Jesus Christ! Allow
Him to unlock your faith and lead you to the vibrant life you have so generously been given
through Christ!
