Holy, Holy, Holy!

And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

Isaiah 6:3

What does it mean that God is called Holy, Holy Holy? First of all we should define the word Holy. The Hebrew word for holy is “qodesh” and means “apartness, set-apartness, separateness, sacredness”.  In the New Testament, the word for holy is “hagios” and means set apart, reverend, sacred, and worthy of veneration.”  The common word in these definitions is apart. So, God is apart from everything else created. We are His creation and we are only whole in Him. If we can understand what this means, then we can clearly see that we are in need of Him, not the other way around. God is infinite and He has always been there, whether we realized it or not. God is consistent, never changing, and it is in this that we can find our assurance. God being His own, above everything else, not limited in time, space or power is the one and only unique God! Let this sink it…….. What do you realize from this awesome truth? I realize His perfect beauty and power, but I also realize my small, imperfect self. Do you feel as small as I do? The amazing truth is God made a way for us, not because He needs us, but because He loves us. Jesus is God in the flesh, He came and demonstrated that love through His life and death. The infinite power of our holy God was revealed in the resurrection of Jesus! Now just think about this for a second, God who is Holy, loves us completely and unconditionally, and made a way for us to experience His holiness here, now and for eternity! This amazing truth is why God is called Holy, Holy, Holy! Live out a life that reflects all of God’s holiness!
