Leading the Heart

“My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God.”   – Ephesians 3:14-16

What we store up in our hearts will be how we live out our lives. As a parent I am well aware that this world today can weigh heavy on, not only our hearts, but the hearts of our children. Who they are comes from what is built in their hearts. The world may judge a person based on outer appearances or assumptions, but God looks straight into the heart.   We need to allow the work of the Holy Spirit to work in and through our hearts so we can live out this life given to us.

If we have children than it is our responsibility to instill biblical principals within them. It won’t be easy and we won’t be perfect, neither will our children, but if they are taught to keep there hearts on Jesus then they will be able to walk with Jesus.   Jesus draws us near with unconditional love and this captures our hearts, and in turn places within us a desire to please only God.

In this world we will have trouble and as much as we want we cannot shield are children from every struggle they may go through, but we can equip them with a solid foundation of strength and perseverance, and this comes from the word of God. This is how we build their character! A character that will in time reflect more of Jesus!

Raising children in this world can be a daunting task, but it is not one we do alone. God has blessed us with this great responsibility to lead these little ones to Him, and it is Him we find all we need to be led and to lead.

How do we do this when we become weary?
We Pray!!!!!!! It is in Him that we will find wisdom and strength to not only finish well ourselves, but to lead our children as well.
