Living for an Audience of One

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Life is not a stage, and our purpose is not to be performers, but yet we can find ourselves in positions where we are playing a role in order to receive applause. The applause that we seek from others can be alluring and it can become our purpose giving us a sense of acceptance,  but this is a lie!  You see, we were created with a purpose, but that purpose was not to perform for others or earn our acceptance. We were created to live in authentic  genuine relationship, first with God then with others. Living out this God given purpose is not for appearances only, but is meant to be deeply and authentically rooted within our soul.  This is our true character, not one we play from a stage! When our true character is revealed it will  glorify God, but it can only be built by, in, and through Jesus Christ. When we step out in life we should look to Jesus for our identity and purpose, and through surrender we will learn that He is all we need. God doesn’t expect a performance from us, just our heart. It is through faith and belief in His Son where we will find our acceptance, our identity and our purpose.  Live it out and glorify God by reflecting His character through your life!

It is through him that we live and function and have our identity; just as your own poets have said,a] ‘Our lineage comes from him.’      Acts 17:28

19-21 “What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that.

Is it not clear to you that to go back to that old rule-keeping, peer-pleasing religion would be an abandonment of everything personal and free in my relationship with God? I refuse to do that, to repudiate God’s grace. If a living relationship with God could come by rule-keeping, then Christ died unnecessarily.”    Galatians 2:20-21 MSG

And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”     2 Corinthians 5:15  NIV

“I’m obviously not trying to flatter you or water down my message to be popular with men, but my supreme passion is to please God. For if all I attempt to do is please people, I would not be the true servant of the Messiah.”   Galatians 1:10 TPT

“Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [greatest] reward. It is the Lord Christ whom you [actually] serve.”        Colossians 3:23-24 AMP
