Let Love Rise

Love is God and apart from Him we cannot truly love. Love is also the greatest commandment! First, we are commanded to love God and through our obedience to His word we demonstrate our love for Him. Secondly, we are commanded to love others, putting their needs above our own.

How can we do this today and what would it look like? Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and you will get a clearer picture of what love looks like.

Today, among our frustrations, due to this world wide pandemic we can express love through our kindness. We can be understanding of the struggles others are going through. We can overlook offenses as we all are under some sort of pressure. We can chose to see the good in others and pray for their good. We can love with our words and with social media we can share or post things that encourage and lift others up in a time that we need it. We can be patient while we wait for life to resume and activity to begin again. Let us aim to love a little more during these difficult times demonstrating the very Love of God!

“Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.”    –  1 Corinthians 13:4-7

” And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”  – 1 John 4:16 NIV

“Our love for others is our grateful response to the love God first demonstrated to us.”   – 1 John 4:19 TPT

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”    –  Matthew 22:36-40

“With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous[a] love toward one another, especially toward those who may try your patience.”   –  Ephesians 4:2 TPT
