A Label of One

“12-13 You can easily enough see how this kind of thing works by looking no further than your own body. Your body has many parts—limbs, organs, cells—but no matter how many parts you can name, you’re still one body. It’s exactly the same with Christ. By means of his one Spirit, we all said good-bye to our partial and piecemeal lives. We each used to independently call our own shots, but then we entered into a large and integrated life in which he has the final say in everything. (This is what we proclaimed in word and action when we were baptized.) Each of us is now a part of his resurrection body, refreshed and sustained at one fountain—his Spirit—where we all come to drink. The old labels we once used to identify ourselves—labels like Jew or Greek, slave or free—are no longer useful. We need something larger, more comprehensive”  – 1 Corinthians 12:13 Message

There are times in our lives where we feel alone, as if we are walking apart from others, being excluded or unaccepted. This is a lie! Firstly, we are never alone because God is with us, and He completely loves us. Secondly, He has given us family, a body of believers to encourage, to lift up and to walk this life out with.

While these are the truths we can find comfort in, it doesn’t change the fact that at times we do feel alone. So, what do we do? Draw closer to God! The more we immerse ourselves in His truth and in His love, the more we will be able to walk with confidence that we are a part of something big. We are accepted in a family of believers and it is all because of His Grace.

Being accepted into His family allows us to receive love and and a place to belong, but with that we do have a responsibility to love and accept others as well. There is no room for comparison, competition, judgment or even dislike. Why! Because each of us is made complete in and through Jesus, leaving us not lacking for anything else. This does again requires us to know and be immersed in His truth. This life was meant to be shared and we have a daily choice to know God and grow in His love, and then, share that with others. Live It Out!
