Boastful Hope

“1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”   – Romans 5:1-5

As a parent I have found myself at the wall of my own limitations and have come to realize that I cannot fix everything for my children, but even in the struggle we can find hope!

Hope is not easy to see nor is it easy to work through, but it is there. We may find ourselves in situations where patience and growth is required, but this is extremely difficult and can lead to frustration and hopelessness. These are the struggles that bring us face to face with our own frailty and limitations, but it is in this place where we can find hope up close and personal.

Our hope comes from Jesus! He is our strength and through the Holy Spirit we can change, grow and persevere throughout our lives and this is our hope!

This is what we should teach our children both with our words and our actions. Live it out as an example for them and “boast in the hope of the glory of God.”
