    A Daddy to Remember

“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.” Psalm 119:18 Have you ever heard someone ask you how your earthly father, your dad, reflected or pointed to our heavenly father? This has been a question that stumped me for many years. The reason I could not answer that question with certainty, was because I felt I didn’t know. I did not how to answer because I did not think I knew my father well enough to know how he pointed to the love of my heavenly father. To be honest, I did not know my heavenly father most of my life either, but now I…

    Embracing Life in 2021

Goodbye 2020!!!!!! Hello 2021!!!!!!!!! This past year has been one for the books, and I don’t mean the good books. For many, it was the worse year ever. It started with so much promise and quickly took a turn for the worse. I know for me it started with optimism and positivity. I was sure that it was the year for me, and many other people I love. While it was not all I had planned or imagined, it was one that brought growth, and this growth brought faith. My 2020 started with my “One Word”, which is my norm for the beginning of every year. As usual, I prayed…

    Eyes of Faith

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”   –  Romans 15:13 ESV The strength to persevere is not our own and it is the darkest places of defeat that we can see where strength truly comes from. There have times in my life when I was not only down, but out for the count. I can relate to having nothing and losing everything. It was in these places that I knew I had nothing to pull myself up with. Can you relate? Do you feel like you have been alone…

    Beatitudes

The Beatitudes are eight blessings recounted by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. I have found these to be beautiful blessings that point us to the true way to live. Our character that is built on the very truth of God’s word results in blessings. Read these, but do not pass them by too quickly. Every verse, every word, every blessing deserves our attention. Be on the lookout for more in-depth explanations of the Beatitudes in the near future on my blog page, but for now, enjoy the read. God Bless! The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes 5 When Jesus saw the crowds,…

    Both-And

“We don’t know what to do; but our eyes are on you.” 2 Chronicles 20:12 (CEV) Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a cognitive-behavioral treatment developed in the 1980’s to treat people who experience extremely intense, negative emotion. DBT emerged from the philosophical perspective of dialectics: two seemingly opposite perspectives can be held at the same time. A common term used in DBT is “both-and,” as opposed to “either-or”. I learned about this theory in a class and it really helped me. It’s a simple way to reframe our negative thoughts and emotions into a concept that is easier to live with. Reframing to “both-and” helps us live with the tensions that we…

    CALL TO PRAYER!!!

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”    –  2 Chronicles 7:14     Maybe now is the time to seek and pray! When things are uncertain and out of control we can know that our God is still sovereign. He is good, He is God and He is in control. Maybe now is the time to seek His truth more than the worlds. There really is only one truth and God has revealed that in…

    Let Love Rise

Love is God and apart from Him we cannot truly love. Love is also the greatest commandment! First, we are commanded to love God and through our obedience to His word we demonstrate our love for Him. Secondly, we are commanded to love others, putting their needs above our own. How can we do this today and what would it look like? Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and you will get a clearer picture of what love looks like. Today, among our frustrations, due to this world wide pandemic we can express love through our kindness. We can be understanding of the struggles others are going through. We can overlook offenses…

Do you see what I see?

Do you see what I see? This was the question God placed on my heart recently. Several weeks ago I was struggling with many different health issues as the result of my battle with Lyme disease. I found myself in a weakened state with a poor self image. I felt stiff, sore and slow with every movement. To top it off, I was also dealing with an allergic reaction from my skin care products where I was forced to go Au natural. Honestly I felt Old and warn Out! I didn’t look or feel beautiful or vibrant and it was effecting my emotions. There was one morning in particular where…
